Serbian / Cрпски / Srpski
Serbian is a standardised variety of the Serbo-Croatian language spoken by around 9 million people across various South SLavic nations. Serbian is an official language in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, and a recognised minority language in Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Macedonia and Romania.
The Serbian language was standardised relatively recently in the mid-1800s by a group of Serbian and Croatian writers. The group based the new standardised form on the widely-used Štokavian dialect. Modern Serbian developed directly from this written form.

Serbian is the only living European language with digraphia – the usage of more than one writing system. Serbian uses the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets and speakers can usually read the two scripts equally well.
