Slovenian / Slovenski Jezik
Slovenian or Slovene is a South Slavic language spoken by approximately 2.5 million people across the world. While most speakers live in Slovenia, there are diaspora in Austria, Hungary and Italy.
Slovenian is closely related to other Slavic languages and is mutually intelligible with Kajkavian and Čakavian dialects of Serbo-Croatian.
With increased movement and communication across the country over the past century, regional varieties of Slovenian have declined in usage. While some regional pronunciation remains, most varieties of Slovenian are moving towards the standard variety.
